Mike Michalowicz’s Crochet Vest
Beth from Betty McKnit remembers Mike Michalowicz putting on his crochet vest, made for him by Catalyst Collective Member, Michelle from Two Brothers Blankets.
If you don’t know Mike Michalowicz, you should get to know him! He is a author who writes about entrepreneurship and making profit and keeping profit in your own bank account, rather than spending it all on your business.
He was one of our keynote speakers last year, and every time he gives a presentation, he wears a vest—typically a blue vest. I asked Michelle, who specializes in men’s crochet, “Do you have any men’s vests hanging around?” And she did, and it happened to be blue, and it happened to be the perfect size!c
So we gave the vest to Mike at the conference and it was such a fun moment. He was so surprised and it fit and it was so fun! Beth says, “The best part about it was that he was ready to put it on before he even saw it.”
Elizabeth Henson on Building an Online Community
Beth also said Elizabeth Henson’s presentation was the best one from the live summit. Elizabeth is a wonderful speaker, a business coach, and host of the Messy Success podcast. Alysha Littlejohn on YouTube and Beyond
Another of our 2024 presenters sparked a crochet business success story! Dana says, “I had such a great experience with the recordings from the presentations last year. I loved Alysha Littlejohn’s presentation. Oh my goodness, it was so good. At first, I wasn’t going to even watch it because it had a title about YouTube. And I was like, ‘Well, I don’t do YouTube.’
“Well, I watched it. She talked a lot in that presentation about various streams of income, including, pattern sales on Etsy and Ravelry. At the time, I had no streams of income. I just started, just launched a website. Right after that, I started selling on Ravelry and later on Etsy, and now that’s my number one stream of income.”
As she spoke, Dana’s adorable kids popped in and out of the video call, reminding us of the joy of having your own business and the flexibility it provides. Your personal life can be a handful, but you can still successfully run a crochet business!
