Loveland Fingerless Gloves

Free Crochet Pattern

It’s January in Colorado. The whole nation is gripped in a cold spell and here, well, here it’s bright and sunny and 42 degrees – which is actually “no coat” weather. Even so, there’s still a bit of a nip in the air – perfect weather for fingerless gloves!

These gloves are worked up in any worsted weight yarn and are perfect for chilly days – allowing you to text, shoot photos, and let him slip that ring on without the fuss of pulling off bulky gloves or mittens.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Whether you’re a beginner or not, it’s always a good idea to read through the pattern before starting to work.
  • You will need to know how to stitch around the post from the front and the back. Here is a quick tutorial.
  • To work a decrease HDC: yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull up a loop in the next st, yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook. In this way, you work one HDC across two stitches to decrease.
  • To increase: Work two HDC in one stitch.

For the Bottom Ribbing:

Working in the round, CH 24, SLST to beg ch being careful not to twist.

Rnd 1: CH2 (counts as beg hdc here and throughout), HDC in each ch around, join with SLST to 2nd ch of beg ch2. (24 sts)

Rnd 2: CH2, *FPHDC in the next st, BPHDC in the next st,* repeat * * around, join with SLST to 2nd ch of beg ch2. (24 sts)

For Glove:

Rnd 7: CH2, HDC in next st and each st around, join with SLST to beginning ch2. (24 sts)

Rnd 8: Repeat Rnd 7.

Rnd 9: CH5, skip next 4 sts, HDC in next st and each st around, do not join to the previous row. (24 sts)

*Note: from this point on, you will be working in the round without joining to the previous row. You will pick up that pattern as you begin the second ribbing section. Use a stitch marker to mark your place.

Rnd 10: (do not ch2) HDC in each chain st and hdc st around. (24 sts)
