Ardara Oversized Cable Scarf: Free Crochet Pattern

Spring is peeking through the mulch in our backyard. I’m pretty sure it’s just teasing us since March is, typically, the snowiest month in Colorado. So, I’m trying not to get too attached to the idea tulips and crocuses blooming or the greening of the grass anytime in the near future. It does get me longing to travel, though.

For some reason, my husband and I do most of our traveling in the springtime and, even though we just returned from Disney World, I’m itching to hit the road and experience the newness of the places I’ve never visited before – and there’s a long list of places I’d like to go! How about you? Are you catch the travel bug, too?

I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland because, again, the green….and the water, and the culture, and, well, it’s Ireland!

There’s this little town that caught my eye. It has a sweet name…Ardara. It’s a coastal town in County Donegal that is said to harken back to a gentler pace of life. It has both a coastline overlooking the ocean and moors on which to dream the day away surrounded by green. (Can you tell I love green?)

The tiny town has waterfalls, fishing holes and hosts the 3500-year-old Celtic monument, the Kilclooney Dolman tombs.

I want to go there. I created this scarf in honor of Ardara. Can’t you just see yourself wrapped in the warmth of this oversized cable scarf as you stand on the shore, watching the waves roll through the mist? Add a nice cup of Irish Coffee and you’ve got yourself an idyllic scene, right?

It’s the perfect gift for St. Patrick’s day or anytime!

Hi there- there is no row 5 in your pattern – please can you advise.
Thank you so much – I can’t wait to try this out for my daughter who lives outside of Chicago – she really battles with the cold and the snow coming from warm and sunny Queensland in Australia.
Many thanks – have a great day !

    • Linda, Thank you so much for letting me know! It was an oversight on my part and has been fixed. I’m so sorry for the confusion – it was simply a numbering error so there wasn’t actually a line missing from the pattern so it should be all set now. Wow, I’m sure Chicago must be quite an adjustment for your daughter! I hope she loves her scarf. Pam
